The world is a big place and I have a lot of thoughts about it. My thoughts may be different than yours or they can be the same. I like to add humor to everything, so just sit back take some drugs or drink some tea and enjoy the ride.

If you tell me you’re going to sleep and I see you 10 minutes later on Tumblr, I understand completely.

This perfectly summarizes why I love the Simpsons and hate Family Guy.

So this.

I watched that episode with my family and I could just feel how uncomfortable everyone was. Honestly, it was a really jarring, unpleasant episode.

Homer is a terrible dad. So is Peter. But Homer’s saving grace has always been that he tries—he’s bad at it and he fucks it up a lot, but he loves his family and he wants to be better than he is.

One of my favorite Homer moments is in “Diatribe of a Mad Housewife.” Tl;dr Marge writes a steamy romance novel starring herself and Ned, and when Homer finds out, he chases down Ned and, rather than attack him, asks him to teach him how to be a better husband.

There’s some part of his stupid self that wants to do better.

I never got that impression with Peter. Instead, the family has gotten more and more abusive towards Meg. It’s really unsettling for me when I started realizing that’s what happens sometimes in abusive families. Abusers sometimes single out one child to abuse, and quite often the other family members take the abuser’s side. After all, it’s easier to side with an abuser than to run the risk of becoming the target yourself.

There’s never really a point where it seems like Peter cares at all that his shitty behavior impacts his family. It actually seems to have gotten worse over the years. He expects everyone to clean up his messes because that’s always what happens; there’s really no reason for him not to be shitty.

And it’s easy to see how Meg is affected. She doesn’t have much of a character, really, because so much her screen time is devoted to being abused. The bits of character development all seem to hinge on her being this sad, neglected person who’s trying her best but never really gets any help from anyone. Quite the opposite; there have been a lot of episodes where her family sabotages any attempts to be herself.

It can be easy to forget how awful this behavior is when the only context is the show itself (frankly, everyone on Family Guy is kind of terrible). Seeing it played against the Simpsons, who are a flawed and dysfunctional but ultimately loving family, was painful to watch.

Family Guy is a shitty show that degrades it’s female cast to the point were people expect it to be normal. The fact that a show like The Simpsons has to share screen time with this piece of shit is saddening. But, also you can see just how even if The Simpsons have gone down in relevance somwhat the show is always a class act that doesn’t use abuse as a comical point.

Holy shit.

Except the majority of men are. Hence why rapists of women and children are often beaten the fuck up in prison and sometimes killed.

i’ve seen more posts of people being excited for Home than this movie, which made me upset because this movie comes out before Home does (not that i am saying that you shouldn’t praise Home as well). and as for Big Hero 6 (a movie that also comes out after the Book of Life) and the people saying that there is a lack of representation of Asians in media, i feel you. why? because there is a bigger lack of hispanics, and i agree Disney messed up, you be upset. but be happy for Hispanics as well because we finally got an animated movie representing us and our culture. so please go see this movie when it comes out.

that is all i ask.

im soexcited about this movie but i keep seeing this post and want to add that everyone should also keep in mind that dia de los muertos is specifically MEXICAN. la muerte (santa muerte) and a lot of what is being depicted is seen primarily in MEXICAN culture and should not be lumped together in its entirety as a “hispanic” thing.

I need to explain a little bit more about the cast, because seriously this is so cool:

The cast of characters in the movie is almost entirely Mexican, save for a few minor characters who (from what I can tell) aren’t relevant to the plot. The voice cast is ALL POC with like 3 exceptions, and most of the cast members are Mexican, meaning that this is a story being told by characters and by people who have a direct cultural connection to it. That’s huge.

Hispanics need so much more representation then we get <3

Yayy culturesss <333

Finally a Movie  that I can show my daughter and say ” Look this is our culture look how beautiful it is”.

all the retail stores right now

If you still think Lisa is a weak and useless character even though she managed to recover and bounce back stronger just a year after witnessing, first hand the death of pretty much the only two people who ever treated her like a normal human being and not an object to toy with. Who loved her and showed her the kindness and companionship she was desperately lacking then you really have a poor judge of character.

bless u

I’m a teacher and today two new students signed up at my school - three year old identical twin boys. Their names are Sora and Riku.

That generation is here.

It begins.

Pray for these children.

Now remember people, National Coming Out Day is on its way. If you “come out” on facebook as straight and/or cis, an ally, a brony, a fucking whovian, or anything other than a marginalized sexual orientation and/or gender identity, I will ram my boot so far up your ass you’ll be tasting Vans for weeks.
